July 7, 2007: This sign says it all for the diner I found for breakfast:
July 5, 2007: Back at the 'ranch' after helping the setup for the 'Gathering of The Guard', there was a brief thundershower that led to the following:
July 4, 2007: This seemed like a good day to visit the Will Rogers Museum here in Claremore. It is a real nice facility with memories of a time that seems simpler but also held the burdens of drought, the depression, WW I. You may have heard of some of these.

July 2, 2007: As I was getting ready to travel this morning, my neighbor said hello and we started talking. It turned out that he joined the Navy right out of high school and put in 7 years. After he got out he became an Air Traffic Controller at Kansas City Center!
I got on the road just after 8:00 and decided to go south into Oklahoma then east to Claremore. This would keep me out of the flooded area of SE Kansas. This added to the length of the trip and I ended up doing 375 miles in about 8 hours of two lane country roads. I only hit some small patches of rain but the clouds were lurking all day long.
I passed through Osage country and Pawhuska and got some fuel. I expect a refund from the Woodells!
