Oregon

Sep 15:  Another nice drive along the Oregon and California coasts.  A little bit of fog made it a challenge to get good pictures but I took what I could.  Now I get to set for a couple of months and a couple of weeks and play with the grandkids.  I did notice that the folks in Port Orford don't know where a hood ornament goes!  You can see the salmon fishermen in the Rogue River at Gold Beach Oregon.

Orford to Arcata

Sep 13:  More rocks, water, sand and trees.  I took a few pictures around Newport after breakfast then hit the road and ended up in Port Orford Oregon.  A real pretty drive but it took almost 4 hours to go 152 miles!  Glad I left plenty of time.  The trees kept getting in the way of the views!  I found a campground in Port Orford and with help from the manager found myself on a narrow road blocked by a truck whose owner had gone to work.  I had to back down the narrow road then around a 180 degree corner to get pointed in a direction where I could leave the park, turn around and come back.  I finally got situated in spite of the help.  At least they have free cable.  I'm only about three hours from Arcata but will spend tomorrow here before completing the trip on Saturday.  Get ready girls, grandpa is almost there!

Newport to Port Orford Oregon

Sep 12:  I got my truck back!  I had to hang around the dealership for most of the morning but it is fixed and ready to roll.  I got the trailer hooked up and on the road at 12:15 pm.  Goodbye Washington, hello Oregon.  I crossed the Columbia River for the last time this year and fought my way through the Portland traffic then got off of I-5 and headed for the coast.  Hills, trees, farms then the Oregon Coast appeared.  It is prettier than any pictures you have ever seen.  I looked at a campground in Lincoln City but it didn't meet my standards which aren't that high!  I found a nice place in Newport Oregon and settled in for the night.  I'll try and get some pictures in the morning.  There is one picture that shouldn't be taking up the space but I hope you can get the idea of the woods in the coastal mountains.
