Durango Rodeo

June 14, 2007:  Today it's back to town for the river raft trip.  I wasn't sure what to expect as I haven't done one of these before.  The ride was gentler than I expected as the flex in the rubber boats took up most of the shock and the day was perfect, 78 degrees sunny and the water was a crisp 37!  We did get wet!  The pictures are from the first half of the 2 hour trip, the gentle part.  They suggested that I leave the camera off at the half way stop and it's a good thing that I did.

June 12, 2007:  I took off for "Mesa Verde National Park" former home of the "Ancestral Puebloan" indians.  These indians made the transition from "hunter gatherers" to farmers and grew corn, beans and squash while hunting deer, rabbits and squirrels.  They also raised turkeys and dogs.  It is a picturesque area but it must have been a rough life.

You can see tourists in the picture on the right.  Can you imagine the walk to Wal-Mart!  How about the TV reception!

June 10, 2007:  I went into town and had breakfast, fuel then back to hook up the trailer and on the road about 8:00 am.  There was hardly any traffic on the road, except for Farmington, only about 30 cars passed me (I passed one)!  I set the trailer up and fired up the TV just in time for the rain-delayed start of the NASCAR race.
